Holiday Cottage to Let: 1 Bridge Cottage, Braithwaite
1 Bridge Cottage is ideally situated in the quiet village of Braithwaite in the heart of the North Western Lake District. The cottage nestles between Coledale Beck and the quiet Newlands Valley road.
With the local village store literally across the road, three pubs and one restaurant within strolling distance, and Keswick only two miles away, 1 Bridge Cottage allows easy access to all amenities whilst offering almost unlimited opportunities for walking from its doorstep.
The cottage has its own parking space for one car (you can see our Landrover Discovery in the picture.) There is also local parking by the Methodist Chapel 150 yards up the valley.
The cottage is well equipped and attractively decorated. It sleeps up to five people, with one double bedroom, a twin bedroom and one single. There is one bathroom with full size bath, electric shower and W.C.
Downstairs we have a comfortable sitting room with an open fire - logs and coal are available locally - but there is also gas central heating throughout. There is a large kitchen/diner, with electric oven and a hob with four hotplates. We pride ourselves on the way the kitchen is equipped for those who would rather cook than eat out (despite the wide range of eating establishments in the vicinity!) We also have a utility room with a freezer (separate from the fridge in the kitchen), a washing machine and tumble-drier.
Almost every room has views of the fells - this is Skiddaw in winter from the double bedroom. Views are also celebrated on the walls: we have enjoyed collecting the pictures in our cottage; almost all are by local artists painting local subjects.
Braithwaite is very much a dog walking village. With hard floor coverings throughout downstairs, the utility room and two mud-eating Turtle mats, the cottage is dog-friendly, and we welcome dogs with well-behaved owners!
